3 Goodgymers were up bright and early for their 7.20am start helping with marshalling at the Kenilworth half marathon.

After we'd collected our high vis jackets, there was a bit of hanging around whilst the various tasks were explained. We decided to get organised ahead of the panic at the end and unpacked the medals to avoid the plastic covers on them creating rubbish. We also had a chat to some other volunteers helping from Myton.

Then we were over to the start line with clangers ready to give the runners a good send off.

We then had a short time to open the boxes of t-shirts and bananas before heading back to the high street to cheer on the kids taking part in the 1km Marathon Kids race.

There was then a brief breather to grab a coffee before the first finisher crossed the line in just over 1 hour and 7 minutes, breaking the course record!

After the slow trickle of speedy finishers it was then a steady crescendo of people coming across the line. Lil and Nigel were close to the action giving out bottles of water on the finish line whilst Katherine helped with packing and handing out goody bags whilst at the same time standing guard over the bananas to ensure there were enough to go around!

After a rush on the goodie bags Lil switched tasks to lend a hand and before we knew it we were just waiting for the last handful of runners before it was time to tidy up!

Another fantastically organised event by Kenilworth Runners and a great run from our very own Allan who beat his PB by 10 mins!!
