Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)
On a very warm and sunny afternoon Maxine took her lunch break to help out and the pair of us met up with two OTs to help create space for Mr M to have a hospital bed put together in the middle room downstairs in his house.
The OTs kindly provided us with masks and aprons and we had brought some gloves with us.
Mr M lives in a typical Pompey terrace... Narrow hallways and doorframes! We started with the sideboard which looked like it could be tricky but we managed to pivot it into the front room without too much trouble. Just 2 armchairs to go, thinking this would be a breeze we started moving them around... Well, we could get them partially out of the doorway but not down the hallway whichever way we tried... And we tried every way! It does beg the question how on earth did it get in there? We then tried to fit one chair into the cupboard under the stairs and got so close to managing to get the door shut but, no, it had to come out again! We managed to move a few things round in the middle room so that his bed can still be put up in there and he will still be able to get to the bathroom and his high-backed chair.
Krypton Factor Challenge (almost) complete! The bed will be put in tomorrow and then he can come back home.

Fantastic work! So important Mr M can get home earlier not just for him but for the NHS as well. Great stuff all round

Well done Katie and Maxine - those furniture shifting ones often test the grey matter as well as the muscles!
