Back to Hilsea Lido today on a beautiful day that was already heating up. Paul had two main jobs for us - finishing off the weed and thorn clearing round the back and rubbing down and painting the bottom section of The Blue Lagoon. We'd already painted the back of the building light blue last season in 2019 so to be able to finish it in navy blue was great and it looks lovely. Fresh from a beach clean and a sea swim for Sarah, she and Ssapan got stuck into the last bit of clearing the back alley and pushing back the excess earth away from the building. Judy who'd also been for a swim, Geraldine and Mel took some scrapers and removed the loose paint and brushed away dust and cobwebs ready to start painting. With Geraldine and Judy painting, Mel swept and cleared away the scraped paint. Fortunately there was plenty of shade, unfortunately, Geraldine discovered that a small alcove had been used as a toilet stop! Paul spent a good 30 minutes washing out the area and cleaning all the surfaces - we'll paint that area on the next session. Leaving the Lido and saying goodbye to Ssapan, the rest of us didn't get far as Blue Lagoon had put out some rather enticing tables, chairs and umbrellas, so we stopped to enjoy some food and drinks before setting off home to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
