Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Emma Wilkins
On a beautiful sunny day, Mikey, Aimee and I met to run to Mrs P who had asked for help to paint her garden fence.
In almost no time at all we arrived at Mrs P’s house. She welcomed us with open arms and a big smile! Mrs P took us through her house to the back garden, an oasis of tranquility. The garden was full of beautiful trees and colourful flowers. Mrs P explained how much she loved spending time in the garden but felt that her garden fence was looking a little shabby. She provided us with several tins of paint and various sized brushes. We set off on our mission....
We soon finished the easy fence panels and then started on the lovely lattice fencing. Mrs P then appeared to offer us refreshments and biscuits - it was a very hot day!
We sat with Mrs P in her beautiful garden talking about her family and some of the interesting places that she had lived. Mrs P also explained that she’d been a midwife in London during the era that Call the Midwife was set in.
Back to work we went...with a systematic approach. Mikey used the big brush to do the longer planks. Aimee and I filled in the lattice with the little brushes. We also met some friends along the way - snails and bees were also enjoying the garden!
After a little while, we painted our last panel and stepped back to admire our work. The garden was transformed!
Mrs P was thrilled with the fence and insisted on rehydrating us with some delicious mango juice before we parted company.
We’d all enjoyed getting to know Mrs P and spending time outside on such a beautiful day.
