Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
11 GoodGymers, ran 5k, to 1 Harlesden Methodist Church to welcome spring with the planting of herbs, plants and flowers. Not a bad way to spend a Monday night!
Monday evening was a cold one indeed, but that didn't stop the Goodgymers from Brent as they ploughed their way towards Harlesden, for a night of Hot Footing and Do Gooding.
A quick housekeeping got underway, with welcomes to newbies Zac and Gina, a shout out for races and Gladstone ParkRun on the weekend and a group field trip to meditation club on Thursday.
Ready to rock the team headed out. Thankfully Munty being switched on as always, was at hand to notice some late comers in the midst. Quickly revealing themselves as 3 young men from The College of North West London, who were ready to get stuck in for some good old community giving back. The more the merrier we say!
With the 3 new recruits, we were 11 in tow, so we set off and legged it out, towards our goal - Harlesden Methodist Church, a fantastic organisation that serves the people of the community in more ways than one. Offering guidance education and a community hub for positive action. Therefore when they asked GoodGym Brent to help them plant their new spring flowers and herbs into the beds overlooking the high street we couldn't turn it down.
Upon arrival Marcia was at hand with boxes of goodies and tools galore!! An awesome array of mini plants, flowers and gorgeous herbs including the luscious smells of Lavender and Thyme.
As the group got stuck in the community stood still and many onlookers ventured over to check out the positivity being bestowed upon the earth.
Now we say....... No more to the beer cans and buggy butts, tossed into the front gardens and hello to the beautiful flowers in their place
After 45mins of beautifying work, the team had to put down the trowels and wish Marcia a fond farewell. With a request to return in 3 weeks time, hanging in the air, the team set off, back into the night and ready tackle the weaving and bobbing of the high road again.
Double backs and tempo runs were just the ticket, to wear everyone out, no matter what their speed or experience and like a crew, we finished together, clapping the last man in on the way.
Until next time.
