Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Colchester runner
Goodgymers Chrissie and Sarah met for the first time outside Mrs I and Mr B's house, but that didn't stop them from getting stuck in with the tasks and still find time to get to know each other a bit more.
Mr B did a brilliant job of supervising from his garden chair, whilst soaking up the sun. Chrissie and Sarah enjoyed listening to Mr B as he told them about how he used to run 10 miles on a Tuesday and played football on the weekends when he was younger. He also talked about his experiences as a child during the war, he used to run home from school with the planes flying above his head - he knew which side the planes were from just by the sound of their engines.
Sarah did a great job of cutting the grass with the lawn mower in both the front and back garden whilst Chrissie put order the other parts of the garden that Mr B instructed. Chrissie trimmed the hedge at front of the house and worked on the lawn edging on the paths in the back garden.
Both Mr B and Mrs I used to enjoy gardening when they were able to do it and spoke of it all with such fond memories. It brought them much happiness to see the garden looking good. They have struggled to find a gardener since the person who used to help them passed away.
After spending just over 1hr and half helping with tasks in the garden the couple wanted done, they invited Sarah and Chrissie into their conservatory for a rest and a chat. They wanted to know more about Goodgym and the different ways runners can help. They showed such a appreciation for the work that was done today and for Goodgym as a whole. Mr B and Mrs I are hoping they will see Sarah and Chrissie at another task, if the couple need help in the future.
