Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Ollason
3 GoodGym runners made their way to the Quaker Burial ground in Widcombe. It was incredibly warm so we found some shady spots to work in!
We started by gathering the dead leaves that have fallen under the trees onto the flower beds. And we finished by watering the plants. This took a while because we had to refill the watering cans using the water butts but it was actually quite mindful and relaxing to patiently wait for them to fill.
This is a beautiful and peaceful public space and we always really enjoy helping out at the ground. Looking forward to next time!
We are restoring a burial garden/ ground which has been located in Widcombe, Bath since the 1830s. The burial ground is no longer used for burials but there are still occasional scatterings of ashes. The garden had become very overgrown so we are restoring the borders and in the process uncovering hidden memorial stones. We are also creating a new wildflower patch and hope to encourage more wildlife to the garden. We would like to open up this beautiful space for quiet meditation and reflection not just by Quakers but the local community.
