This week 5 magical GoodGym-ers braved the weather to run around Tottenham and rake leaves.
At 6.30pm last night the heavens opened, unleashing a flurry of hail stones and rain. But four brave souls didn't let that stop them, and ran to Tottenham Green Pools to help me help rake leaves for Friends of Tottenham Green over the road.
We ran our regular loop, all sticking together, grateful that the rain had actually stopped. We met Laura on the Green, who dished out bags and rakes and set us to work clearing the fallen leaves to be sent off for composting. Once the biodegradable bags were all gone, we got to work with a quick litter pick.
Even with just a few sets of hands, we were able to clear a tonne of leaves and fill a few black bags of rubbish, all in half an hour. We then said our goodbyes and headed back to the leisure center for a conditioning circuit. It was too wet out for the sprint work, which I'd planned, so we worked through some basic bodyweight movements that everybody needs to practice. Strong cores and glutes make for strong runners.
We did a 10-2 ladder of squats, press ups and burpees.
