19 Peckham pacers ran 6km down hustle bustle high streets and through darkened parks, all for the love of Southwark!
So let me set the scene..... it's 6:45pm and I'm sat all on my lonesome at base camp Old Spike thinking - OMG is it gonna be just me??
The minutes ticked on and just as I was about to throw in the towel.... TRA LAAAAAA All my fabulous troops piled through the door in one almighty swoop!!! HURRAHHHH. But to my dismay one was missing from the crowd, our dear and lovely Hanna who in her own words, communicated via text 'Got a bastard pin in my bike tire' OHHHH MAAANNNN!!!!
But soldier on we did, even without stuck at Halfords Hans and also pigeon and her nurse for the night Ed. This is because, did I forget to mention, our dear google map maker had bird fever! Ohhhhh noooo!! Get well soon Hells Bells!! and.... oh shit..... gotta find my own way this week EEKKKKK
So with 2 missing from the heard, the pack stepped bravely out on mass, into the night, with only by the warm glow of the sat nav iphone. Onward bound, to our host for the eve - The Giraffe House, Community Kids Center and playground!! YAY
The run was rapid with Josh pushing pace and even our back markers Beaut and Lianne bringing in the gang quick smart. So in no time at all we arrived on deck to meet our host Tom and his wondrous variety of leaf blowing and shifting tools!! Hurrahs!!
Although the rakes were pretty nifty, it was the leaf blowers of course that got everyone excited, but mostly Coops who jumped at the chance to have a go. Adorned in his fetching blue latex gloves, he got straight to work and I think it's safe to say - He BLUE like a pro....
With all kinds of tasking going on, from clearing the sandpit to shaking down the cat poop Sorry Josh I took time to break off with groups of my crew to do some very important deeds...... Playing on the pull up bars of course!! Can you blame us for enjoying a little monkeying around at the Giraffe House, Zoo knew we could have such fun on a Wednesday night!
It's little wonder we nearly missed the timer for the end, but not before spying one of the most enormous preggo spiders ever seen!!! It's not Halloween yet Mrs LOTSA LEGS... Be gone with you and on that note you couldn't see Lianne for dust. So in her dash away from danger we followed, back into the creepy woods......The perfect setting for some Haunty, Hot Footing Homing.
What a fantastic night, to have a fright and blow and behold, we braved the cold. With much running and laughs, for the worthy Giraffe!
