The Important Stuff
To celebrate #IWD2019 Goodgym have been encouraging our runners to bring a female friend/family member to a session. The theme this year is on #BetterForBalance (gender equality in work, sports, social media and life in general)
We have another community mission for our female runners/friends/family to attend on Friday 8th March for those who were unable to attend today’s session.

Please do come along to the run or the task (note – change of start location to Upton Court Park)
We are making progress! We should have another mission loaded onto the new system very soon. The Coach team are also scheduling in calls for those who have completed their coach training
Our First Time But Not Our Last Time
Our task this evening was to support a new task owner with a leaflet drop to promote their upcoming Easter Fayre. It’s always great to meet new task owners and Tracy and Bridget are working very hard at The Royal British Legion – Cippenham to promote their events. They do a series of community events at their premises in Brook Path.. from tribute acts to boogie nights. Check out their facebook page for more details (https://www.facebook.com/cippenham.legion/). In April we will be painting the centre’s garden fence…looking forward to that one…our first official paint job
Poached…Runny…Scrambled
With a leaflet drop based around an Easter event it seemed only right to make our warm up based around hopping!
So after our welcome brief covering all the important news, task information and health and safety…we had a game of hop tag! The team thought I was yolking when I explained the rules but they soon realised how good this egg-ercise was (I know…my puns are getting worse and worse!...I can just see the egg-pressions on your faces as you read this)
We then headed out towards Cippenham via the Cophorne Hotel route with The Long Barn being our central point tonight so a nice 2km run out….Thank you to Ricky for back marking…he said he was feeling a bit poached so wanted to be less runny today as he didn’t want to feel scrambled for tomorrow (I did warn you they were bad)
Purrfecting the leaflet drop
Reaching our destination in good time, we paired off as we usually do and took a few streets each. We’ve kind of got the knack now on how to leaflet drop fast and furiously without getting our knuckles cracked in the letterboxes. Pam even made a new furry friend today and found a house with not one but two Lamborghini’s in the driveway
Within 30 minutes we had completed the task and dropped around 300 leaflets around the area so we headed back to base via a different route but not before a two team relay along the premises of The Long Barn!
A bit of pushing and shoving by Meera and Darren as the relay started... highly competitive these two! It was a close call but Team Meera won by a hare’s whisker
Next week we will be visiting Slough Gymnastics at Montem Leisure Centre with a packing up and cleaning down task before they move out of the centre. You never know Amy might just let us use the balance beams (guess what next week’s fitness session will be on!) https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/moving-stuff
Have a great week and hopefully see some of you on Friday’s Community Mission for #IWD2019
