Report written by Paul Bown
27 awesome GGers ran 4-10km in delivering leaflets for Abbey & St Pancras Community Centres
Welcome along to newbies this week - Cath and Hannah - give them a cheer!
In the news this:
SPCA Report by PB:
A team of 16 of us headed just down the road to deliver 150 leaflets for St Pancras Community Association about their amazing projects and activities which start in September.
Splitting into teams of 2-5 people we quickly delivered 110 leaflets in the designated area chosen by Cheryl from SPCA, who is the Director of Fun - good job title. We then went in search of more local doors to deliver to, heading close to Mornington Crescent where half of the team did conditioning exercises in the park, while Frances led the half to deliver down a few roads. Good work everyone.
Pocket to Socket
With the task complete we headed to Granary Square to practise our arm technique, we got into pairs and did the following:
We then practised our newly learnt technique with some light running in our pairs and then our monthly time trial of 880 metres around Granary Square (rectangle). Excellent speed and arms everyone!
Abbey Report from Jess W:
After some debate (around the hill?! over the hill?!) 11 GoodGymmers set off on a 10k loop to Abbey Road Community Centre. We headed out through leafy north London and around Primrose Hill to the Centre where we met Laura who gave us our leaflets. She told us that there is a noticeable increase in people using and volunteering at the centre whenever we leaflet which was great to hear.
Over or around the hill?
Splitting into two teams we made light and vaguely competitive work of leafleting two blocks of flats with 19 floors (definitely didn't take the lift up. No way. Stairs are our friends...) delivering over 360 leaflets! On the way back we went over the hill with a bit of a sprint to the top - worth it for the view of London lights - before practising our downhill running technique and aeroplane arms. Great job everyone!
Sign up for next week here, Chris Howson (Run Leader) will be in charge as I am away for the next two weeks.
See you soon PB out.
