Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Michelle
Two runners met up on Saturday morning in Ealing to rearrange some furniture so that Mr C can return home from hospital.
After the excitement of celebrating a fantastic win at the Get Berks Active awards the night before, GoodGym Slough runner Sut Yee quite literally lept out of bed and hot footed it to Ealing. Well done Manjit and everyone at Slough!! Sut Yee, like many other GG runners, intended to get to the local parkrun on Leap Day since it won’t fall on a Saturday again for another 28 years. Sut Yee’s alarm clock had other ideas though. Meanwhile Michelle did make it to Gunnersbury Parkrun to witness the hundreds of people who braved the freezing cold rain to dodge their way through the many puddles to an extra special Parkrun finish.
Sut Yee and Michelle were greeted by Mr C’s friends Mary and her husband. Mary explained that a hospital bed is due to be delivered and the task was to move furniture in the lounge so Mr C could return home this week from hospital. After a few minutes of planning we’d cracked it, moving chairs, coffee table and sofa around to fit Mr C’s needs and provide a great space for the bed.
Mary and her husband made tea and biscuits “you need feeding up, I’ve seen more meat on a sparrow!” They told us how pleased they were to have our help after an OT at the hospital put them in touch.
Mr C’s family haven’t had the easiest time of late as both Mr C and his wife have been in hospital due to ill health. So we were really pleased to help Mary make sure Mr C would be comfortable returning home.
