Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Pauline Harrison
A last minute city centre mission meant a choice between litter picking on our Monday night Group Run, or lifting and shifting beds to make room for a hospital bed to be delivered. Three runners made the decision to sign up for the mission, giving them a shorter than usual Monday run, although one of us still managed to fit in the pre-run warm up beforehand 😊...guess who?
Mat, John and Pauline met at the home of Mr H, who is due home from hospital any day.
The first task was to enter the sheltered accommodation, reach the first floor and find our way through a maze of corridors to Mr H’s flat. Fortunately, his son was on hand and made sure that we didn’t get lost...or locked out!
The single divan bed was relatively easy to manoeuvre and, with the use of a handy lift, was soon taken down to the ground floor, to await collection. A metal framed double bed, however, presented a small problem...it had to be taken apart to fit through the doorway, but was held together by eight bolts requiring an Allen key...which was not available. However, in true GoodGym style, the task was not going to defeat us...Mat came to the rescue, producing just the right tool to get the job done.
In no time, the bed frame was dismantled and carried down the short, but twisty, flight of stairs.
Mr H’s son was extremely grateful and can now look forward to welcoming his father home from hospital.

Well done everyone. These missions make such a massive difference. Here's hoping Mr H gets home and recovered as soon as possible
