Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Tonight we ran around 4km to help clean the windows, doors and skirting boards in Gingerbread Corner.
Tonight we returned to Gingerbread Corner to tackle the windows, glass and skirting boards upstairs and also to have a little peek at the Romper Room. It was freezing cold so after our customary photo we headed off to our lovely warm indoor task. Gingerbread Corner, a charitable childcare centre, which has been running for 40 years and aims to provide affordable childcare.
Because it was a short run to the task we went back a longer route and had some fun down one of the side streets near the station working in pairs to take it in turn to either run to the middle of the streets and back or work on some lower body exercises to strengthen our legs and improve balance – a lovely mix of squats, lunges, one-legged balancing, running man and squats against the wall. We even fitted in some wall press-ups at *Jen’s *suggestions!
Samir joined us all the way from Streatham for his first GoodGym run – it was lovely to meet him. Sadly he’ll be heading back to France soon but maybe he can spread the GoodGym message over there. Hope he can make a few more sessions before he leaves our shores.
If you want to find out more about Coach runs or Missions please email me on juliet@goodgym.org or have a look on the website. We now have around 17 older people/coaches ready to be paired with runners.
I am also happy to do DBS checks for Coach runs/Missions before or after the Tuesday runs or we can arrange another time during the week if you can’t attend at these times.
Don’t forget to sign up for next week’s run. With Christmas looming there’s also the GoodGym party for all runners on Friday the 9th of December in Battersea – it’s fancy dress and the theme is the borough you run in. It can be a place or person from that borough and no we can’t all go as Kate Moss! I will also be changing the final task of 2016 on the 13th of December as we’ve been asked by EVOLVE – a homeless charity – to help with some Christmas present distribution.
