Sunday 7th January
Report written by Bromley runner
GoodGym Bromley's first visit to Kelsey Park near Beckenham as we got underway with our slate of group tasks to attack the January challenge.
We arrived at 09:30 on a cold but clear Sunday morning to meet the Friends of Kelsey Park, whose task was to tidy up a hedge and other foliage next to the tennis courts. We helped carry tools over to the site and got stuck in. Mark and Claire headed behind the (non-evergreen) hedge to clear a walkway so that rogue tennis balls could be retrieved. Richard declared war on brambles, pulling some huge ones out, and Stephen cleared suckers and other growths from a nearby Sycamore tree. Meanwhile, Helen went litter picking in a pair with a Friend and collected loads from just one corner of the park, making it a much more pleasant space for families now. Great work!
Liz from the Friends was very happy with our work, so we're welcome back at next month's session - sign up here.
