Share the love

28 people ran between 3-5k to help 2 exciting community enterprises.

This weeks run report was brought to you by the number 2, 9, 19, 2, 1 and the Letter Y;

2 LOVELY TASKS

This week we had 2 tasks- we helped out at The Skip Garden and Maiden Lane Community Garden.

The Skip Garden is a moveable community garden- created and used by young people from the global generation project. They struggle with the heavy lifting so were really grateful for some goodgym muscles.

Maiden Lane estate is a pretty vibrant community with lots of different projects going. They all aim to promote sustainability and keep the estate green. We were helping to flatten a plot of land on the estate and help cover a path in the Orchard with woodchip. Yee hah!

9 HEAVY LIFTERS

9 people headed for the Skip Garden to be greeted by Paul the Garden Manager. They shifted over 50 huge pieces of timber and helped re-shelve 4 wormeries. They were precariously placed and with lots of young children around it was important we could lend a hand. Yodel- eh- he- hoooo, Great work.

When they were finished the dashed a further 2k up to meet....

19 MULCHY RUNNERS

19 others ran on to Maiden Lane, where 8 people grabbed wheelbarrows and started filling them with woodchip. The remaining 11 grabbed rakes and spades and continued to flatten a big area of mulch. We are helping to improve the irrigation of the plot- laying some tarpaulin over the top and covering it in fresh woodchip delivered by the 8 wheel barrowers. They also covered a path in Les's new orchard with a pile of the fresh stuff- Yummy.

2 ROUTES HOME

Warmed by the satisfaction of completing two tough jobs we made our way for home. We split into 2 groups- one heading straight home (1.5k) while the other made a longer 3K journey down the canal. Yuck- we're good

1 LOVELY CARETAKER

We all arrived back at Somers Town Community Centre at 8.30pm to be greeted by 1 lovely caretaker, Bob, who welcomed us in with open arms...before gently taking the mick and sending us on our way . Not before we did 6 stretches, filled in 1 CRB form and drank 200ml of water. Yonkers
