Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
For our last run of 2017 we truly had a Christmas cracker!
Rocking up to the BAC last night were runners in santa hats, Christmas jumpers and with enough good cheer to light up Wandsworth. First we welcomed our new friend Charles who joined us for his first ever GoodGym run. Give him a cheer! We also had some lovely GoodGym tourism in the shape of Remy, Michelle and Andy from Hounslow, John from Camden, and Nicky from Lambeth. So good to have you guys with us, and quite frank(incense)ly, we needed all the help we could get with our task last night!
We have done some jobs for the amazing Paul's Cancer Support charity before - they do absolutely vital things for the community by supporting those who are affected by cancer by providing therapies, counseling, advice and much more. Tonight we were planning to hit the streets of Wandsworth to do a spot of caroling and shake our shiny collection boxes in the hope of raising as much money as we possibly could for them.
But first, a few congratulations. Can you even believe that in Wandsworth we have done a barnstorming 2,423 good deeds? Amazing! A big shout out to Matthew, Luke and Rachael who all ran the greatest distance, and to David, Matthew and Sophie who all did the most good deeds. Another well done to Matthew who has never, in the history of Wandsworth GoodGym, missed a group run. Incredible! And a massive well done to all of you who have made our team so much fun and such a difference in our little corner of London.
After a quick practice of a very rousing Jingle Bells, we took ourselves outside for a warm up and to hear our New Year's resolutions. There was a lo-oot of running goals (yes!) and a few life goals. I'll be asking again in a few weeks time to see how you guys are doing! You'll smash it.
Our first stop was Clapham Junction, and although intimidated by the rival carolers who had brass instruments (not fair), we gave it our racing best. And pretty good we were too! With our tins jingling, off we went to tap up the local pubs, before making our way up the hill to Clapham South tube where we really hit the jackpot. Turns out Winter Wonderland and Jingle Bells were the big winners, plus a lovely rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas led by the tuneful CJ. Last stop was outside Clapham Common where we belted out our last carols before hitting the fitness session.
In a suitably Christmassy scene, we played Chase the Tinsel (well done Andy and Sarah) and Christmas tree Stuck in the Mud on a very frosty common, before sprinting back to our starting point. After a few stretches it was social time! And what an illuminating social it was. After a game of Wandsworth Pictionary which saw Alyx, Jamie, Andy and Vix's team reign supreme, we moved on to Two Truths, One Lie, where we found out such gems as who has spent a night in prison, who snogged a member of S Club 7, whose ancestor signed the Declaration of Independence, whose brother was in last night's Standard, who can fit their own fist in their mouth and who has taken part in the world's largest bunny hop. And so much more!
Team, you are a totally brilliant bunch of people, who inspire and give it your all every week. Thank you for an amazing year, and here's to our next adventures! Roll on 2018, and all the getting fit and doing good it brings.

Any news on how much we raised with our singing? Sorry if I've missed it somewhere. Thank you for making me feel so welcome - I'll definitely be back for another visit sometime!
