Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Jess Smith
13 Goodgymmers walked, ran, cycled and drove to the Age Concern shop on St Mark’s Crescent, one of the top three most successful Age Concern shops in the network!
Upon arrival the task owner Claire explained the painting task for glossing the skirting boards and door frames as well as painting all the walls. There was a bit of a palava as we sorted out brushes and rollers, paint and gloss and Amy even dashed home to top up the tools so everyone was able to get stuck in!
Whilst the first lot got going, Sol found her own little task and cleaned the notice board, making it sparkle!
With everyone tooled up, gloss and paint quickly made its way onto the walls and woodwork and shop looked brighter with its lick of paint (and nobody licked the paint!).
The team easily brushed this challenge aside and were on a great roll-er before time ran out.
We managed to paint the whole of the downstairs room, gloss almost everywhere and painting was well underway in the upstairs rooms and main shop area.
However, on completion of the task our evening was not over as we certainly didn’t want to gloss over Kanika’s 250 good deeds!!
Kanika is an incredible asset to the Windsor and Maidenhead Goodgym team and we are proud to call her one of our own! With chants of ‘We Love you Kanika, we do!!’ rolling around we celebrated in the traditional style by presenting Kanika with her ‘250 Good Deed’ medal, and amazing cake and treats provided by Georgeta and Sheila.
Age Concern Windsor is a small local charity helping and supporting older people.
