For today's mission Heather & Neil were running to Ms J who needed help with replacing a strip light in her kitchen. She used to change them herself but now doesn't feel safe getting up a ladder so asked for GoodGym's help.

Meeting in Meyrick Park we headed past Cemetery Junction and towards Winton and our destination. Although it felt a bit chilly outside to start with by the time we reached the house we were both baking. Ms J met us at the front door and led us through to the kitchen where the light needed changing. "Easy!" we thought....

The first job was to remove the old light. Using the stepladder Ms J provided we got up and popped it out easily enough. The plastic casing came with it at both ends but we were fairly sure that was supposed to happen so on we went.

The next task was to get the new light in. It sounds straightforward but in reality was a case of getting one end in; manouevering the other end in to place only for the first end to pop out. Whilst also trying to get the plastic casing to pop back in to place at the same time. Balancing on step ladders and wrestling with tube lights is surprisingly hard work and by this time we were both roasting. This went on for roughly 10 minutes until we finally heard the click of the casing going in. We remained on the step ladders, hands up, waiting for it to fall but it didn't! We'd done it!

Ms J remarked upon the annoying flicker the light was making whilst we tried to get the old light into the cardboard tube unsuccessfully. Ms J mentioned that she had called electricians who were quoting £60 to do the job and how grateful she was to us for doing it for her. The light stopped flickering and we made our way back with a job well done 👏
