Report written by Becky (She/her)
And it did shine! It was with some trepidation that 5 brave goodgymmers arrived at Stepney City Farm to greet our seasoned task owner Siobhan, convinced that this was going to be a chilly and wet evening. However, within minutes the sky had cleared, and the sun shone on us as we got to work shifting a cast iron cage (surprisingly heavy!) before moving to raking and woodchipping the area around the beautiful new decking next to the children's play area.
Once done, it was compost time! John, Ceiling and Tracey got to work shovelling compost from bay 3 to bay 4, clearing the whole bay in the time we had, while Becky and Nina piled hay high into the first compost bay. Remarkably, this is one of the most favoured tasks among old hands at the farm, and is certainly both a satisfying one and a great workout - jackets came off in no time as the shovels, forks and good conversation flew to and fro.
Thanks to all for pitching up for another lovely evening at the farm!
