**14 FABULOUS @GGSHEFF runners ran 3km to help CADS and the Abbeydale Picture House with the renovations to this Sheffield Icon!
The Showroom Cinema (our new start location) welcomed some stiff legs after the previous days half marathon efforts which was well attended by the @GGSHEFF crew with 5 runners who made it round the course still turning up to the group run the next day and making it through the run, task and fitness session!
WE ARE BACK TO VISIT OUR OLD FRIEND
With still plenty of work to do on this ongoing task the team were welcomed and briefed by SENSATIONAL STEVE and quickly split into team LIFT & SHIFT and team ROCK & ROLL. Many a board was white washed for future art work and many an old part was shifted to make the space a usable one for the future!
Following the task we split into teams of three (TRIPLE TROUBLE Y'ALL) and began a high intensity circuit to the tunes of the Beastie Boy's in the fantastic space that the stars once have, and with our help will perform once more!
After whipping brows we headed into the depths of the basement of the PICTURE HOUSE SOCIAL for some post task refreshments. It was a great turn out for our first social with nearly everyone able to stick around for a couple of drinks, pizza and a chance to get to know each other a little better. Now we are running to and from the Showroom this will hopefully give us more opportunities to grab a drink after the runs!
Next week we are off to REGATHER to make another two beds so.....

The Abbeydale Picture Palace was opened by the Lord Mayor William Farewell Wardley on December 20th 1920, with the silent film The Call of the Road. Designed by the architects Dixon & Stienlet of North Shields and Newcastle-on-Tyne to work as a theatre as well as a cinema, it has a generous stage with a fly tower, the UK’s only remaining “iron” safety curtain, intact and in situ, with original 1950s period advertisements. The original classical proscenium was hidden by the existing plain arch when Cinemascope was installed in the 1950s, but otherwise the auditorium remains intact and the building is listed Grade II. Soon after closing its doors on the 5th July 1975, the building was taken over by Messrs A & F Drake as an office-equipment showroom. They traded until the early 1990s, and after some years of neglect the building was taken over by the Friends of the Abbeydale Picture House as a rehearsal and performance space for amateur theatre groups. When the Friends of the Abbeydale project came to an end in 2012, the building was bought at auction by Phil Robins. Since July 2015 it has been managed by Hand Of, a Sheffield based arts platform who organise a diverse range of cultural events.

Gosh, what a super old building, it's a labyrinth. Thank you all for making me so welcome at GG Sheffield (Kim is the best cheer squad). It wasn't your hot and hilly HM that had me dashing back to Brizzle, it was Tom's fitness session. :-) :-) Hope to see you all again soon.
