Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by anne malcolm
Ms W needed help moving a few small items to clear space and remove potential trip hazards. A lightbulb also needed to be changed in the kitchen so that she had clear lighting to cook safely.
Anne signed up to lend a hand. She had not signed up to get drenched enroute, but the rain got heavier and heavier as she made her way to the task and by the time she arrived, her trainers were remarkably squelchy!
Once remarks had been exchanged about the weather and sodden footwear (removed at the door), Ms W set about pointing out the various items to be moved - a broken TV and trolley bag full of cassettes to be placed outside for the council to remove; two recliner chairs to be repositioned slightly for greater comfort and improved light; and - if possible - the washing machine which ‘walks’ during the spin cycle to be reset at a less jaunty angle under the work surface.
Everything was moved easily and quickly. Even the washing machine was willing to be coaxed back into position with little effort. As a little extra, Anne and Ms W reviewed a number of electric cables attached to the old TV and Anne agreed to take them to the Electric Recycling Bin.
As Anne got her trainers back on, a chance mention of changing lightbulbs reminded Ms W that she needed the lightbulb changed in the kitchen - both had forgotten that this was on the task list! Ms W produced an impressive array of lightbulbs and after testing a couple of options, this job was also complete. Anne headed off back home, via the recycling bank, thankful that the rain had eased off.
