As the bankers and the other sea of people in suits were rushing to catch their mode of transport from Liverpool Street Station, there was Sam going against the crowd - trying to find the one thing that brings comfort to many people: food! But, specifically, food that will be wasted!

Tucked away behind Spitalfields Market and approaching 18:30, Sam found the Hummingbird Bakery, just in time before closure. As he checked in with the Food Drop app and told the site manager he was here for the unsold baked goods, he just had to wait five minutes before the team prepared him with three nearly prepared boxes of cake, brownies and other sweet treats! Yet, this wasn't for him (he wishes!). This was for the film students from the Mouth That Roars, which are based near Hoxton. He took the leisurely walk (15 minutes) from Spitalfields to the Mouth That Roars centre.... Only to find it was closed 😲 As he logged back onto the Food Drop app, it was recommended to leave the food in a safe place or hand it over to the next door neighbour, which he did. Hopefully, the real estate agent working late on a Thursday night will pass these treats to the young film students on Friday.

Looking forward to more Food Drops in the future!

Drop it like it's food

GoodGym has teamed up with Food Drop to help reduce waste by getting unsold food to those in need!

Through the Food Drop app, runners can collect unsold food from high-street retailers like Pret A Manger and Caffè Nero and drop them off at nearby charities.

If you’re interested in signing up, follow these steps:

1️⃣ Download the Food Drop app

2️⃣ Book drops that suit you

3️⃣ List it on the GoodGym website and invite others to join you
