Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

With January blues nowhere in sight and more new kit than you can shake your colourful, lycra clad tail feather at, GoodGym Brent were back with a bang, ready to grab 2016 by the baubles.

It was all Girl Power at dusk on this first Monday back in the season, with only 2 exceptions on the welcome - Rasi (who couldn't stay, but had just enough time to show us project biceps) and newest recruit, the dashing Josh, our first real army officer in training!!

Just as warm welcomes were complete and Xmas stories shared, one last familiar face ran through the door - Sadhana, freshly back from her brush with the law!! (Full story on Facebook, but involved running through a dual carriage way tunnel on a marathon training run and being collected into the back of the police car.....!!!!! The stone cold rebel... POW POW)

With warm-ups completed the task was laid out - Clean up this community site so it was At-TRACK-TIve once more!!

With no time to lose the team got stuck in, we mean literally stuck in, the sticks and brambles of the foliage!! With the timer ticking there was an element of competition, the person who fills up most bin bags will be the winner of the prize.......coach Ellie's homemade Sugar Free, Dairy Free, Gluten Free Biscuits as a reward next week!!! Suddenly the teams started to slow down?!?!? Weird....

Stuffing their sacks full of delights, the troops worked their Christmas Stockings off, discovering unopened presents galore..... Golf balls, half eaten crisps and Hannah's Durex surprise... yuk

OK No more Xmas gags now, I promise.

After 30mins of back-breaking efforts the whistle was blown and the final full refuse sack count was in - 12 and a half full bags!!! Wowzers. The winners stepped forwards - Isabelle and Josh, reluctantly accepting their fate, as the victors and takers home of Ellie's Healthy Cookies, delivery to come next week. (I'll let you know if they show up, the winners not the cookies)

After the task there was no more messing around, Coach Ellie had been doing her homework over the festive period and that homework was about one thing only - Efficiency and Speed.

In preparation for the teams' Gladstone ParkRun efforts on the horizon for this coming Saturday (Join us & sign up online today) the session that followed was not for the faint of heart, with; * Bum Kicks * High Knees * Majorettes * 50M Sprints Partners were then assigned to check and correct technique, so everyone pulled up and on best behaviour really went for it with full force and determination.

To finish the session the team undertook:

2 sets of each round: 100M 80% sprints, 50M recoveries, followed by 200M sprints and 200M recoveries

Smashing it out line the athletes they are and cooling down at the end with group laps and a well deserved stretch.

GOODGYM BRENT, back in action and clearly none had let their fitness slide this festive season, because the track game was tight and everyone left grinning and asking for more.... seriously, they asked for more!!!! A once a month slot!! You're on!

A Jan-tastic session to bring in the new year and an awesome delight to be back with the Family x x x x x x x

SEE YOU NEXT TIME!!!

DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPRE.
