Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Leanne (she/her)
Six Goodgym Yorkies met up on a Tuesday night to do some extra work on our Heworth Holme pathway project
Our task was to spade the now diminishing pile of limestone into wheelbarrows, and wheel them down to the end of the increasingly long pathway to make it even longer.
Apart from a few puddles caused by a whole bank holiday weekend full of rain, the path was holding up quite nicely as far as we'd got with it. While Jonathan got to work with laying more weed guard, we relayed our wheelbarrows back and forth to cover it with stone. The team were determined to finish off the pile of limestone, but unfortunately, we reached a section of the path that was just too waterlogged to continue laying. Nikki looked particularly disappointed to leave just a few more wheelbarrows worth of stone lying around, but cheered up considerably when she was allowed to sit in a wheelbarrow for the group photo.
Since Egg has set a '30 lunge a day' challenge for this week, we finished our task by walking lunging our way back to the start.
I'm sure this path is way more than 30 lunges long (Paul)
I then shared the comprehensive lunge revision I'd done over the weekend to give everyone inspiration to keep on lunging through rest of the week. We practised:
All of this gave Deborah flashbacks to Egg's circuit sessions. She added in a suggestion of pulsing lunges which, of course we were all delighted to try out.
As we left the task, a local dog walker called out thanks for our work on the path, which just goes to show how appreciated it is.
