Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nicola Marshall
It was really wonderful to welcome another lovely new member this evening. Annaliza, it was brilliant to meet you and lovely to work (and run!) alongside you this evening. We hope you enjoyed your first ever Goodgym task and we hope you’ll come back and do it with us again another week!
Tonight we were at the Lighthouse Centre (aka New Testament Church of God) to help them with some general cleaning in the main church and kitchen area. But before we got stuck into our task, we got stuck into a good run in the rain! That’s right…. Rain!!!! I can probably count on one hand the number of times we’ve done a Goodgym run in the rain! We were lucky though, it wasn’t too heavy so we didn’t get too drenched – although I think Karen may beg to differ having spent time doing her hair before coming out, only to have it ruined…. Sorry Karen!
We did a brief warm-up outside the Lighthouse Centre (I don’t think too many people saw us limbering up on the busy road!), then we headed out for a run. We did a circular route down Valley Road, then down to the park via Reasedale and back up via Alton Street. There was lots of puddle dodging going on thanks to all the rain we’ve had in recent days.
Back at the task, we were greeted by the ever lovely Dalton who warmly welcomed us as always before setting us to work with some general cleaning duties. We started off with cleaning the windows, followed by some dusting, hoovering and wiping down. The highlight of the evening was watching Adele, Annaliza and Maurice work together on bringing down some very high up cobwebs!!! Adele wasn’t leaving the building until she’d got em… so up the ladder she went with Maurice and Annaliza holding it steady. It was a bit hair raising at times – especially when one of the legs of the ladder fell down a hole!!!! Eek!! Luckily, it was only a shallow hole, so Adele didn’t disappear into an abyss! In fact, so unphased was Adele by the little mishap, that she even managed to come up with tonight’s pun ‘Live to Clean Another Day’ while balancing precariously!!
It was a lovely evening – we had fun, a good laugh and had a great sense of satisfaction after getting all the cleaning done. We even made another new friend – Hetty! I think she made a great addition to our Goodgym posse! I think Dalton was pretty pleased too! Well he must have been as he’s agreed to have us back once a month! Brilliant!!
Well done everyone – another fantastic evening’s work!!
Take care & have a great week and weekend.
Lots of love Nicola xxx
