The Green Lanes Vaccination Centre volunteer team has built a really good spirit of community - people bring in home baked goods, recognise one another despite the permanent presence of face masks, and the organisers are great at keeping morale up. One such example was this weekend’s invitation to volunteers to dress up in bright colours to mark the Holi festival of good triumphing over evil.

Always on the lookout for opportunities to wear my tie-dye two-piece from my days living on the US West Coast, I wore every colour conceivable and was delighted that the face masks being distributed were tie-dyed, making my ensemble effectively a three-piece suit.

Today’s volunteering slot was quieter, giving people time to rotate duties and chat a little more. I got to use the temperature gun to test people on their way in, and wield a clipboard, so I was nerding out even before I was informed that there was a prize for most colourfully dressed and I was the proud owner of some sweet stationary.
