Tuesday 19th November
Report written by Dan (He/ him)
On this chilly November evening me, John and Ivo met outside All Good Beer for a social run to Made in Hackney, a new task to help a Local Community Food Kitchen. We met up with Jo and joined gardener Lucy to clear the millions of leaves that surrounded their garden.
Before we knew it we created a massive pile of leaves ready to be collected by the council. Well done all! We then made our way inside and warmed up with some lovely herbal tea and learned more about the fantastic work being done by this community kitchen.
Made In Hackney believes in a world where everyone has access to enough nutritious food of their preference; where plant-centred eating is the norm not the exception; and equitable food systems support healthy eco-systems that allow people, planet and animals to thrive. How Do We Achieve This? We work across cultures and communities to ensure everyone can adopt a climate friendly, health-supporting, compassionate diet. We… Provide emergency plant-based meals for households in need of food support. Provide critical food education giving people the skills to grow, cook and eat more plants. Provide inspiration and training for businesses, organisations and communities to evolve to a plant-centred food offer. We strive to do all the above with joy, respect and collaboration.
