5 runners raring to go, Bee B&B's and some CORE work
Fresh from East London I rocked up ready to put the West London group through their paces. I waited patiently in the leisure centre for the arrivals and guess who arrives first? Fellow Eastie Andy who was ready to pop his GG Brent cherry.
The remaining runners soon poured in including a relived Darren who was happy to hear the that impending run would be just 3km in total. Brent's mammoth marathon run to Wembley the previous week was in my book a great initiation...I salute you.
Google maps has my back
Briefing done, we set off to Harlesden Town Gardens. Andy asked me a little while earlier if I knew the way.....pfffft of course, well at least I know if Google maps knows. Sat Nav booted up 10mins later we arrived to the hidden patch of fun without a hitch.
Where's Bob?
Upon arrival I did notice it looked a little quiet, a few kids playing on one side, some adults on a bench on the far side, I expected Bob to pop out from the Shed or maybe a planter. But after my eyes scanned the garden and exhausted all potential hiding places I realised he wasn't there. A couple of phone calls and it turned out Bob had been held up in a meeting but was en route.
Wicked...Time for circuits then!
We went through a couple rounds of thigh burning, core charging, bench climbers and jump squats to warm up. And right on queue Bob arrived. Our main job was to get up into the trees and drill some Bee homes aka Bee B&B's into place, good tree selection was imperative to ensure the children using the garden stay safe and to make sure the bees get the best environment over the course of the next year. Darren was up into the tree first like a BOSS and found a nice spot for home number one. We moved across the garden for Sadhana and Andy to get the second one up. Sadhana sounded pretty impressed with her handy work and I expect to hear about some new home decor exploits involving a drill soon.
Just before we left we whizzed through a round of block clearing; some sneaky folk have been dumping large paving blocks in the corner of the garden, potentially dangerous for a site which has youngsters around. So we lifted and shifted them all into the shed.
Core
We made our way back to base with a quick round of partnered core blasting just to make sure our abs were well and truly awake.
Great work Brent, I look forward to seeing you all again next week.
