Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
18 GoodGymers ran 6k to Mabley Green to mulch 100 trees from the park's huge makeover.
Great to have some new faces along this evening on their first GoodGym run!! Hope you enjoyed the session and will be back again next week!
Great to see Rich back too from his injury lay off!!
Launching our run down Mare street and out towards Hackney Wick we kept it strictly social with a nice conversational pace as we got to know a few new faces. 2.5k run, 20 lunges, 20 calf raises and 16 squats later we had arrived in Mabley Green to meet Bruce a Hackney Council Park ranger.
Bruce explained about the Mabley Green transformation project and how the fruit tree patch, as well as the new avenue of trees, had come about with matched Government funding in 2016.
We got to work shovelling, barrrowing and doughnut shaping the mulch around the baby trees. We had a lot of ground to cover so had to keep on our toes as we ran out the length of the avenue to mulch 100 tree doughnuts in 45 minutes.
As the light faded we were off, expert navigation from Cecilia even managed to add some extra distance to the run back, taking us up to 6k for the evening!!
A short stretch out and a big, huge, massive GoodGym Good Luck to Amy and Anna who will be tackling Brighton and Paris marathons respectively. I will be living every moment with you on live tracker!!
Next week we are off to Abney Park Cemetery for some hard work in the cemetery! Always a great task - be great to have you along!
