Report written by Pauline Harrison
Many schools are looking for ways to give vulnerable and key workers ' children much needed time outside, during this winter lockdown. In order to keep the children active, and make curriculum links where possible, some are hoping to set up gardening activities. This will include preparing beds for spring planting.
At Woodside, a once loved memory garden had fallen into disrepair. In order to get it into a safe condition for the children to dig over, ready for planting, everything had to be removed.
Sandbags, pallets, plastic poppies on camouflage netting, and trellis work had all suffered weather damage and needed to go.
After an hour of lifting, shifting digging and dragging, (through cold, icy snowy conditions), the bed was cleared, ready for action.
Hopefully, we will be invited back to see the finished result.
