Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Alys Penfold (she/her)
Katie, Adam, Alys, Susan and Becky met at WWF all having made their own way there and later met James at The Lighthouse. It was great to see Becky and Susan for their first group run in a while. Alys and Katie ran together from Knaphill, just over 5km - well done ladies!
From WWF Adam led the group on a mile run along the canal and over the bridge to The Lighthouse and added in some side stepping at the end to spice things up.
There we were greeted by Alison who set us up with our cleaning products.
With little co-ordinating, we all fell into our various tasks with Alys taking on the hoovering, Katie and Susan sweeping and Becky and James mopping up after us whilst Adam assisted us all. The floors were already looking pretty clean, and any ants we spotted were soon hoovered and swept up. Before we knew it, we were all done!
Alison told those of us who were visiting The Lighthouse for the first time all about what they do there. We were very happy to hear that the food bank has plenty of food donations at the moment thanks to the recent Harvest Festival. But donations for Jigsaw who collect clothes for children up to 7 years old will happily be accepted.
With a traditional picture on the stairs, a squirt of hand sanitiser and a promise to visit the cafe soon we went on our way.
Adam, James, Susan and Becky head into town for a celebratory drink. Meanwhile Alys and Katie head home with a kind offer of a lift from Katie’s husband Phil so they could get some dinner.
Well done to: James who achieved his 5K PB this week Katie for running a 10k in Fleet last weekend Susan for completing 10 GoodGym deeds and, Becky for completing 5 GoodGym deeds Alys on being a Woking GoodGym Taskforce member
Good work all round!
