Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Patrick Luong
This Saturday, GoodGym gave my run purpose. I collected and delivered vital medication for a vulnerable person shielding from the Coronavirus and provided much-needed conversation after three weeks of isolation
Today, I did my first mission since lockdown after finally being fastest finger first (reference to ITV miniseries, Quiz, which came up in the morning's GoodGym virtual coffee).
M has been shielding at home to stay safe from the pandemic so is being provided with food but needed her vital medication delivered to her.
I ran a couple of miles to the Little Boots (also came up in our virtual coffee!), gave my hands a dose of hand sanitiser then picked up the brown package to drop off at M's home. It felt like childhood mischief ringing the doorbell and dashing away!
I know it's tough to be isolated so stayed for a solid socially distant conversation with M from the street. I also suggested ways to find social engagement, light entertainment and community during these unsettling times. It seemed like M appreciated the chat and ideas just as much as the medication.
"I haven't seen anyone in three weeks and can't believe you ran here! Thank you"
I must admit it was great to have a reason to run, and to be back in the red.
GoodGym missions are more important than ever and remain a unique way to get fit, do good and feel great
