Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kash
Just before 1pm Kash, Anita and Hannah cleared the tea station at Ealing Soup Kitchen and have been called to the kitchen. Marie told Kash she's been promoted to do the VIP duty: the sink! They filled two sinks with water: soapy and clean, then Marie showed Kash how to operate the dish steamer. The machine didn't want to cooperate at first, so Marie had to use sweet talking to make it work.
At 1pm the lunch service started and Kash got more and more busy washing up. Luckily, after the desserts were served and eaten, Bri came to the rescue to rinse and dry the dishes Kash relentlessly washed.
Halfway through the shift Sabah who was the chef today asked Kash if she would like to eat. She said yes and went to sit at a table with the clients to taste Sabah's veggie option with a vegetable stew, baked potatoes and fresh salad. It looked and tasted great.
Kash returned then to the washing up but Mary convinced her to finally switch to drying the dishes and make space at the sink for Raya who just arrived. Kash was busy with the steamer and towel until she saw Madhan whom she didn't expect today. "Where's your wife?", Arul asked Madhan when he walked into the kitchen to say hi and swap with Kash. That was something new! GoodGym Ealing will be now on a lookout for Madhan's secret spouse. Maybe she will come to the next group run!
Ealing Soup Kitchen is a registered charity set up to help the vulnerable and homeless in the area. Nine local churches support our faith-based Soup Kitchen, which has been running since 1973.
