Nat gave me the contact details of the Nunhead Salvation Army (SA), Mr. P who told me that they needed assistance today peeling and cutting potatoes as well as other tasks. They provide a takeaway meal to local residents who need a free meal on Thursday, but the prep starts on Wednesday.
When I arrived, Mr. P gave the instructions to wash my hands, put on some gloves and a mask.
I was tasked with cutting potatoes of which there were many! Hundreds! Yet, with my chopping skills in the kitchen 👀 from my hospitality course, I went with the flow. Almost two hours later, and hundreds of potatoes diced, we had tubs and pots of potatoes ready to be boiled for tomorrow. The SA will make trays of Shepherd's Pie with beans tomorrow! Glad to help out where I can and look forward to doing some more next week!
