Men United vs Trellis-ey
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bromley.
- Saturday, 6th of January 2018
Mrs B from Bromley fell off her ladder while sorting out the trellises in her garden, hurting herself in the process and needed a couple of helpers to finish the job. Dom and I are training for a marathon and a half marathon respectively. It was a match made in heaven/Goodgym HQ.
It was a clear, but bitterly cold morning and with my fingers getting colder and more numb by the minute I was beginning to wonder if I'd even notice if I accidentally lopped one of them off! Fortunately the task, of trimming back the vines and creepers and a neighbour's intruding tree, did not take long. A welcome cup of tea warmed us up nicely before the trip back (I decided not to run back this time).
It was the longest training run so far and the furthest south I have run - when Greenwich Park is half way, you know you're going to end up in some previously uncharted territory! But I was rewarded with a scenic, unique run and a great sense of achievement. The hot tea and biscuits afterwards from Mrs B was the icing on the cake.
