Mission complete and Mrs R said “weed” done a great job!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Norwich.
- Saturday, 19th of September 2020
Today, Helen and I were signed up for a mission to help Mrs R tidy and weed her garden, as she is unable to do this herself due health issues.
I jogged to the mission from home and bumped into Helen near the address - she had cycled from the city on one of Norwich’s "Beryl Bikes", a funky green colour, 3 gears and apparently a pretty decent ride.
After a false start thinking we’d got the wrong address as we got no answer initially, Mrs R greeted us at her door and took us out to her small, but perfectly formed garden. It was so well-kept, that we wondered if there was any “tidying” to do!! Mrs R gave us a hoe, brooms, bags plus another unidentifiable tool that we had to ask how to use, we should’ve taken a photo for answers on a postcard! :0) We set to work on removing the weeds, plant debris and a general sweep up, plus I had to re-home a worm that I'd evicted from my hoe-ing!!
Hey presto, in no time we had finished the task - the tidy garden, that puts mine to shame, did actually look (even) tidier and (definitely) less weedier, very satisfying. Mrs R gave us a big thumbs up, we had a nice little chit-chat with her for 10 minutes which distracted us, so we forgot the after photos and ones of ourselves, doh! However, that was the mission complete on a breezy, lovely sunny day in Norwich and job well done.
