Tonight we welcomed a special guest to GoodGym Solihull, Coventry’s GoodGym trainer Liz.
Once all stories had been exchanged about how hot everyone’s runs had been recently, Chris then went on to tell us about his new 10ft pop-up pool he bought yesterday, making us all very jealous!
It was then time to head off into the parks to do some litter picking - first stop was Tudor Grange Park. As soon as we arrived, we could tell that the little pick was definitely needed this week! With school holidays and blazing sun the park had clearly had a lot of usage and was the worst we’ve seen it so far this year.
We split into two teams and got to work, working our way up the park and towards the pull-up bars. That meant one thing - time for our pull up challenge! Despite the heat, everyone managed to get a new personal best, well done to all!
After this little bit of fun, we carried on litter picking back to our starting point. It was then time for a little competition - girls vs. boys sprint challenge, with a best out of three. I wouldn’t like to say who won, but you all put in a great effort, especially in the heat!
We then tackled our second park of the night Brueton Park, which equally looked like it has had a lot of people enjoying the park in the sun, but unfortunately leaving their rubbish on the floor. Undeterred, we set to work again picking up all the litter on our way from one end of the park to the other, with Fiona finding the “perfect tree” for a photo opportunity.
Once this task was complete, it was time to head back to base for a quick cool down and stretch. Well done to all who came out tonight and braved the heat!
See you all next week for our return run to the Scouts, don’t forget to bring your mozzie spray!
