Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
10 do gooders hit the streets and joined forces to complete a task at Chestnuts Park
hit the tarmac in search of this week’s light
First up was Paul, closely followed by Vic. We were also joined for the first time by Andrew - welcome aboard kind sir! Shouts out to Hayley and Adam too - nice to have you join us again. This week we were headed over to Chestnuts Park to help shift and spread some newly delivered mulch, clear the orchard of fallen branches and securing the baby tree supports around the parks perimeter. With the team grouped and ready to go we warmed up then hit the tarmac in search of this week’s light.
warm, friendly and vivacious
On arriving at the park we were met by Dashing Dave who had been running late so decided to meet us at the park. He arrived before us so did three laps of the park while waiting. Good stuff Dave!! After making our way over to the willow sculptures we were met by Sarah and Karen from Friends of Chestnuts Park who were both very warm, friendly and vivacious (we had found the light). They introduced themselves then pointed out what needed doing. That said we wasted no time in splitting into teams and getting stuck in. One team headed out to the parks perimeter to secure the baby tree supports, one headed over to the pile of mulch to get that shifted and spread across three flowerbeds and the last team hit the orchard to clear away fallen branches to enable the lawn to be mowed.
we shall see who was triumphant
After dishing out gloves to all I went about taking silly face off competition pics. One or two seemed pretty sure of their previous efforts... we shall see who was triumphant when we get the results next week. Everyone seemed to settle into their little jobs nicely and we had made good progress as we hit the 15 minute remaining mark. With 5 minutes to go everyone banded together to get the last bit of mulch spread across the 3 flowerbeds. As I called time we re-grouped for a picture in the thunder dome (willow dome). I couldn’t resist singing a couple of lines of the Tupac classic California Love.
We then said our goodbyes and hit the street again. We ran hard up to the war memorial where we would go over some running techniques and lots of scouser like movements – alright alright calm down calm down (Paul is an expert at this). We then set off back toward HQ. After a sprint finish, warm down stretches and a round of high fives we had reached the end of another session.
Until next week folks – stay fit, do good and look out for the light
