more than just a run in the park
3 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Crewe.

After a very wet Saturday, it was a pleasant surprise to have a dry morning for junior parkrun! Despite the summer holidays 50 juniors took part with their grown ups. It’s so lovely to know that we’ve been able to make this happen - parents and juniors were enjoying their time together, with grown ups using all sorts of techniques to encourage their children on. As well as the exercise benefits, it’s the quality time spent together, being able to do an activity together rather than it being a spectator sport, and the friendships that are built - amongst the parents, the juniors and the volunteers. It’s by far one of the best hours of the week!
Emily, Nigel and Karen volunteered in a number of roles today - volunteer coordinator, course set up, course close down, timekeepers, marshal, warm-up leader and laundry maid for the hi-vis jackets which got a bit soggy when the rain came just at the end! With it being summer and volunteer numbers being low, there was no doubt that junior parkrun may not have gone ahead without GoodGym’s help this week.
