Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Dom Tooze (he/him)
Today, JC and I cycled over to Ms J's to help make some space for a new riser recliner chair.
We'd both cycled over from previous commitments, and were both ready to dive into the task. Ms J's relatives showed us what needed moving first - a sofa that's graced their living room for ten years, but is ready for new adventures. JC and I whisked the heavy blighter through the house and popped it out front surprisingly quickly.
Once we'd done this, we turned our attention to two standing sewing machines which had been parked in the back yard for some time, but needed collecting alongside the sofa. Before we got cracking, they presented an issue: mice! They'd encountered one out there once before, and ever since they've been deeply concerned about going out there, or any furry interlopers making their way in.
As such, we agreed we'd thoroughly check the machines before bringing them through the flat, and the family members were on high alert, opening the doors just quickly enough for us to scoot through with the goods. Once we'd done this, we shifted a few bits in the back yard to make it a bit tidier (which included moving potential routes of ingress for the fluffy invaders), and were also taken up on an offer of checking a box of Christmas decorations for mice, then bringing it inside.
After this, we paused for a socially distant sofa selfie, then made our way off!
