For this fantastic Saturday run we headed south to the Northern Slopes. It was a nice longer run out along the Malago Greenway. The Northern Slopes are in South Bristol and the Malago Greenway is not very green - it was an upside down kind of day!
We arrived at the start of the northern slopes to be faced by a big hill and a lot of steps. We bounded up to get stuck into the task.
This week's task was to help clear the overgrown scrub and bag up the rubbish this revealed. The Northern Slopes are an amazing scrub wilderness within the city, and a vital green environment in one of the most deprived parts of Bristol. There was a full array of tools, including slashers, loppers and 2 Austrian Scythes. We got really stuck into the task, clearing a large area away from the paths and laying the vegetation on the muddy parts of the path, as well as bagging up loads of rubbish.
With time almost up we were rewarded with some coffee, fudge and a fantastic view over Bristol. We headed back down the hill, through the streets of south Bristol and back to Roll for the soul. We nailed it!
