Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Tonight we ran between 7 and 8km to help sweep up and bag leaves to turn them into mulch.
We had a longer run this week along to Thornton Heath Rec on a slightly drizzly but warm evening where we met Andrew, Atul and Carolyn from Friends of Thornton Heath Rec who were busy tidying the Community Garden. The garden was covered in soggy autumn leaves which were swept into piles and then transferred into large bin bags where they would be left to turn into mulch . We forgot to count the bags before we left but we think we filled between 15 and 20 large bin liners. All the bending and squatting was definitely good for our legs if a little tricky after running there. On the way back we found a quiet one way street and had a relay race with each runner having to sprint twice – gold medals all round for competitiveness!
We welcomed Steph tonight who is currently training for the London Marathon for Mind – hope to see you back again. A few other runners are looking to really challenge themselves with other marathons and half marathons being mentioned. Really looking forward to hearing all about them and seeing the support from the group is just lovely.
Don’t forget to sign up for next week’s run. With Christmas looming there’s also the GoodGym party for all runners on Friday the 9th of December in Battersea – it’s fancy dress and the theme is the borough you run in. It can be a place or person from that borough and no we can’t all go as Kate Moss!
