Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
The Tabbard Gardens connection with GoodGym Southwark branched out further tonight as Karen from Berwick Court called us to her aide.
Karen knows Peter (of Tabbard Gardens) very well and had asked him for our details to help her out with a task. This task was to shift tonnes of soil and wood chip / tusks from the common driveway of the gated Berwick Court to various parts of Berwick Court. This residence has slowly seen a change in their green spaces and have claimed these spaces from the management of the property to grow an ever-growing garden(s).
We split the task into two. Laura and Karen (not the organiser) had the task of filling up small bags with soil from the larger tonne bag and the organiser Karen would tape the bags up and transport them on an IKEA trolley to the underground parking to keep away for future gardening projects.
Meanwhile, Girija and Sam had the task of filling up a big empty tonne bag (half way) and various smaller bags of wood chip / dry tusk to eventually transport the Tesco trolley (via three doors and a lift) to a wing of their garden that needed the pathway to be wood chipped.
The hour and a half flew by as we worked and talked our way through the tonne bags of soil and wood chip. We were all chuffed with ourselves! 😊
Finally, Karen kindly gave us a tour of the residence to see the different parts of the gardens. What a lovely way to spend a Tuesday night. ✌️💪🏼

Thanks Fraser! I'm glad you like it, but I can't take any credit for it as Karen (the organiser of the task) pretty much geared it up for me to take 😉
