Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
10 do gooders joined forces, hit the tarmac and took on the litter of Milton Road Estate along with giving those railings at Kori a good ol’ scrape.
blazing the trail for the rest of the Haringey office staff
First up was Dashing Dave proudly sporting his special (red) rucksack. Looking good DD. Then after a few regulars came two newbies out of the Haringey offices arrived. Big shouts out to Sadhbh and Kirsty you guys fitted right in. Great banter and effort guys – top points to you both for blazing the trail for the rest of the Haringey office staff who we eagerly await in the coming weeks. During our briefing we welcomed the new comers and I announced the winner of our monthly (silly) face off competition. Congratulations Ollie. More on this shortly. I just wanted to take a second to say welcome back to Chris who returned after an injury to his knee. Great to have you back on board dude!!
present Ollie aka Mr Smug Face his award however. . .
After our warm up and pretty standard #bridgepic we were on our way in search of the light which was in the centre of the Milton Road Estate. Lots of rubbish had accumulated in an area near the Kori Youth Centre. Once we had tools etc. we split into two groups with one taking care of the litter and the other getting stuck into the railings of the children’s playground. Kirsty and Sadhbh did a stellar job in picking up the discarded litter. Everyone else scrapped vigorously until their hearts where content. Everyone put in a great effort and we only stopped to present Ollie aka Mr Smug Face his award however, this was not as straight forward as first thought as my planned prize for this month was a hipster beard would you believe. For those who have not met Ollie: on his Smug face sits a very health beard and moustache. Luckily I have a bag of prizes so I dipped in and pulled out a very useful pack of cards, which Ollie is going to be playing with all weekend along with his Mrs. The cards are Karma sutra =)
lovely Latin lady legged it off the bus
Not long after that calamity was taken care of we were out of time so we packed up and while myself and Sarah dropped the tools and dust sheets off the others hit the playground and embraced their inner child before we arrived back to the group and I took the lead in getting a brave few to do some negative chin ups. Great effort guys. You’ll notice a difference after a few weeks trust me. After this mini session we hit the tarmac once again splitting into two groups to ensure a good workout for all. Just before arriving at the war memorial, on the junction of Phillip Lane and West Green Road, where we’d be stopping off for a little fitness sesh; a bus stopped alongside us and a lovely Latin lady legged it off the bus and happily joined us in our short run to the memorial. She seemed very keen to join us so I hooked her up with our details. Hopefully we’ll see her soon. Then as we regrouped to get stuck into some reverse dips a pretty cool guy approached us and asked if he could join us in the future. Of course he will be welcomed by all with open (but maybe slightly saw) arms.
Next week we’ll have the more than capable Dashing Dave taking the helm
Fitness session done we hit the road again for the short run back to HQ were we warmed down over the usual banter before saying our good byes. Next week we’ll have the more than capable Dashing Dave taking the helm as I’ll be on leave so until the 19th Feb…
Do good – stay fit and look out for the light.
PS thanks to Dashing Dave for the pics and pun
Next weeks session
