Key Enterprises is a fantastic charity based in North Tyneside who provide training for people with learning disabilities, mental health problems and head injuries, providing them with skills in IT, woodworking, metal working, gardening and cycle maintenance - I spotted the unusual and very creative Christmas tree in reception that I guess is made from some spare cycle parts! This task was cancelled when we were hit with lockdown 2 so it was great to be able to re-arrange to help out such a wonderful organisation. Huge kudos to Tom for taking on a second task in two days - on his birthday weekend! And thanks also to Abi, Sam and Nick who also gave up a chunk of their Sunday. We worked hard for almost three hours transforming the canteen from a slightly shabby two tone green to a much fresher and brighter brilliant white. The time flew, with discussions including what our favourite Christmas songs and films are - including that old chestnut, is Die Hard actually a Christmas film?! We didn’t manage to get the glossing done and the emulsion could do with a second coat, so maybe we’ll be invited back for a sequel - Gloss Hard With a Vengeance anyone?
