Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
24 Newham Goodgym runners took to the park pathways
The Goodgym Newham gates were opened yesterday and we were given our first run around of the breathtaking Olympic Park.
After a brief introduction along the canal at the Aquatics centre, we began our ascent up a few stairs where all 24 runners got their blood flowing with a few technique drills. We had the fountains close by for a bit of raging moral support, what better way to get the group aquainted.
Paul from The View Tube laid on a mixture of tasks for the team ranging from light weeding, fence shifting and digging. Everyone got stuck in with the odd few multi tasking and providing interviews and 'working poses' for the local newspaper; keep your eyes peeled to the Newham Recorder for the article.
Those who selected their working positions carefully ended up with the Orbit as a backdrop to their hard labour, which made slinging weeds around that bit more picturesque.
From here we began to explore the south side of the park, along some winding roads, with a few sprints up a 'slight incline' as I like to call it (others may argue a steep hill). We briefly took in the views and ran back down where we carried on into the heart of the park and made use of the benches for a touch of strength work; it's amazing just how equipped this site is for us fitness folk.
Thank you to everyone who made it down, I look forward to seeing you all again…don't be a stranger!!
