Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Gait expectations
On a blustery but sunny September evening it was great to return to my GoodGym buddies after a weeks holiday and hear all about what everyone had been doing since I had last seen them all.
It was so interesting to hear about Lucy and Duncan's recent epic trip up Mount Kilimanjaro . Wow ! Massive respect and congratulations to you both. Maybe we could organise a social and hear about your adventures in more detail ?
With a promise to meet us at the task from Gill and a few apologies from regulars, Paul, Sue , Barbara, Nick Anne and Tamsin the remainder of the team for tonight including Belinda, Duncan and Lucy set off for a breezy warm up ending up at Bug Cycle Garden which is located at the north end of Beach House Park Gardens.
A bugs life having the time of your life
As usual it was great to meet up with our Creative Wave friends ,Nadia and Nessie and after a quick update we set to work on a tidy up of this unique , quirky, creative and delightful garden.
Gill had arrived ahead of us and had already started on the task and taken a selection of the attached photos capturing some great light and colour images.
Michelle did great work on the Artichoke bush that needed chopping down together with saving some of the seed pods which made for some great upcycling both in the garden and in Gills house ! Belinda was on her ( hopefully )good knee taking up some stubborn weeds whilst the rest of the team including Nessie and Nadia continued on the garden make over.
Bin there , seen it, done it !
The phrase 'If the mountain will not come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain' sprung to my mind today as with all the garden debris the team had created in such a short amount of time and with his recent climbing adventures ,Duncan decided that instead of carting all the foliage to the bins he would bring the giant green bin would come to us ! Luckily Lucy gave Duncan assistance and driving instruction with the now much heavier bin, on the return journey!
After the usual photo and cheery thanks and goodbyes the team headed north up the twittens for the second half of the run.
Belinda and I were lucky enough to 'run' into Paul who looked so smart in this shirt , tie and at this point of the evening, he even had his trousers on! Little did we know what this dark horse was planning for his play rehearsals later on in the evening ..... Ooooh Matron :)
Spiritual Warriors
We finished the evening with a beautiful sunset functional fitness session in the local park which included some crocodile run drills followed by some core ,strength and cardio moves and culminating in a variety of classic yoga warrior and down dog poses.
With the front team taking a slightly extended tempo loop we all reconvened to complete an easy 'final straight' jog back to base. Stretches and strava love chat finished off the evening perfectly but guess what ?! It was dark when we finished !
Another great GG evening, I can't finish without a massive WELL DONE to Barbara who completed her first half marathon at the Great North yesterday together with Sue who completed the St Barnabas 10 K just 13 months after her riding accident. By way of celebration for all the team achievements ,can anyone make Monday 24th September for a fish up chip social after the task and run ?
Watch out for more GG news and snippets in the weekly email that you will receive either Friday or Saturday.
Have a great week everyone !
All the best,
Julia xx
