Yesterday was the Nations biggest Sports Day, GoodGym partnered with I am Team GB, by doing a group run showing the community what it is we do that makes us so good.
The day had many different activities and various sessions from other community groups, not only that the public had th opportunity to meet pass, present and emerging Team GB athletes Chloe Rodgers (2012 Olympic Hockey Bronze Medalist), Laura Kenny (4x Olympic Champion 7x World Champion), Holly Hunt, Rhos Hawes including a special visit from Pride the Lion.
For our session I led a group of 5 runners 4.2km to Wormwood Scrubs for a bit of plogging, we had GoodGym regulars along but also two first timers Ihfaz and Zanoubia who signed up on the day. I did try to convince Laura Kelly to join us but due to public demand and so many people at the event wanting to meet her and take pictures with her she was unable to join us.
Picking up Butts
When we arrived at the park we noticed the wasn't a lot of litter in the park however there was one particular bench with a lot of butts. I guess it was quite fitting there would be a lot of butts by a bench but they weren't actually people sitting on the bench it was cigarette butts. We sett about picking up what rubbish that was in the park including all the butts. Task completed we had time for a fitness session before heading back to Westfield to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.
Apart from rubbing shoulders with the stars one of the events of the day that stoop out for me was Switch Sports.
What is Switch Sports? Switch is a hybrid sport that combines 5 Olympic sports; Football, Basketball, Netball, Volleyball and Handball.
