What a wet and windy Saturday it was today!! 4 goodgymers braved the elements to complete Fulham Palace parkrun before making their way up to Furnivall Gardens to help out Rachel and Jane with some planting. Cookie cycled ahead whilst Sandy & Beth ran together, and Helen joined us a little later following a coffee post-parkrun (and a slight mix-up with task location - whoops!)

The main job today was to dig up one large plant from one of the beds by the river and move it to the walled section over the other side of the garden. Sandy and Cookie did the hard graft of getting the beast dug up... unfortunately generating one fork casualty in the process 😬. After a quick pose with their handiwork, we started preparing to give the plant a new home. Sandy, Beth and Helen started digging holes whilst Cookie broke up the root ball so that we could spread the plant along the wall. To everyone's amusement, Helen seemed to uncover a full dining set of plastic cutlery as she dug, whilst Beth was a little less fortunate and kept encountering bricks. We bedded the plants in their new home and tidied up.

For the last bit of this morning's session we did some light weeding in the raised beds along the wall, playing our favourite game of "weed or not weed" with Rachel's help. The rain started to come down more heavily and so we called it a day a little early due to feeling the cold, and headed for a coffee together. The 4 of us had a good laugh at the disparity in thickness of cake slices at the coffee shop; Beth seemed to have fared rather better than poor Cookie!!

Great job this morning everyone in some awful conditions! And well done Sandy on your first good deed - we were all very impressed with your dedication in the terrible weather, and hope to see you at another task soon 🙂.
